About the Role

Our client is a VIC government organisation based in Footscray VIC. They are currently seeking a Payroll Consultant to come in and work with them on a 3 month temp assignment with possible extensions.

Candidates for this role must have:

  • Strong senior payroll experience in a similar role, working within in a fast-paced business environment
  • Proven experience in the use of SAP Successfactors OR PayGlobal systems
  • Previous VPS/Government experience

Key responsibilities will include:

  • End-to-End Payroll Processing: Execute hands-on fortnightly pay runs (via PayGlobal and myPlace/SuccessFactors), process Single Touch Payroll on schedule, and assist team members with manual keying and system integrations.
  • Financial Reconciliation & Superannuation Management: Lead month-end payroll accounting, including leave reconciliations, payroll tax, Portable LSL, and complex Superannuation reconciliations and clearinghouse submissions.
  • Payroll Compliance & Legislative Interpretation: Interpret Enterprise Agreements, modern awards, and Australian taxation/payroll legislation to ensure systems, data, and practices remain strictly compliant.
  • Process Improvement & Quality Assurance: Conduct root-cause analyses on process inefficiencies, perform quality checks on employee lifecycle data changes, and refine Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions.
  • Audit Coordination & Data Analytics: Leverage advanced Excel skills to consolidate and review position/payment data while coordinating internal and external audit requirements.
  • Strategic Advisory & Operational Support: Provide expert advice to business leaders, employees, and the broader PC&S team on remuneration, leave management, terminations, and HRIS/PC&S project initiatives.
  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal teams, industry peers, auditors, and external service providers.
